Quantity: for 2-4 portions
Duration: approx. 45-60 minutes
Effect:
Warming, digestive and stimulates the metabolism. Do not use hot spices if you suffer from hyperacidity.
Preparation:
150 g Mungbeans soaked overnight for minimum 8 hours in in lukewarm water,
cut 1-2 carrots and 1 sweet potato or half into small pieces. Grate a piece of fresh ginger.
Heat at least 2 liters of water.
- Heat 2 tbsp sesame oil or ghee slowly, then stir and add:
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1 tbsp medium hot curry
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 grated fresh ginger
- 1 knife tip of Asafoetida
- Add the soaked Mungbeans and the chopped vegetables to the spiced oil. Cook at medium heat for about 50-70 minutes.
- After about 40 minutes add some raisins if you like. Pour boiled hot water as needed and cook the Mungobeans until they are soft. Finally add 1-2 teaspoons of rock salt.
By the way, all ayurvedic healing dishes can be seasoned in different ways.
Serving:
Fill the hot soup into a bowl and add 1 teaspoon of coconut milk or ghee. Eat warm or hot.

Ayurvedic Healing Dishes: Heartwarming Kichadi
This mild ayurvedic healing dish is one of the main healthy dishes in the world with lots of healing properties. This fusion of rice, lentils, herbs and spices and vegetables is easy to digest and also cleanses, detoxifies and deacidifies the tissues. It is the ideal food in hyperacidity too. Kichadi has a magic effect on your mood and gives you a cozy warm feeling.
Softly cooked with Ghee and mild spices, it becomes a soft porridge with an incredibly soothing effect on the stomach, especially if the you suffer from inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Kichadi is very nourishing. It is the right meal for everyone in any age, especially by children and seniors, who have a weak digestion power. In obesity use less rice and more lentils and veggies.
Quantity: 2-4 portions
Duration: 40-45 minutes
Effect:
Cooling, deacidifying, cleansing, nourishing and moisturizing
Preparation:
Cut 1-2 carrots and one fennel into small pieces. Optionally use parsnips, parsley roots and zucchini. Wash Basmati rice and 75g Mungdal in cold water. Heat at least 2-3 liters of water.
- Start with warming up 2-3 tablespoons of Ghee and add
- 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 4-6 whole Cloves
- if necessary, add 1 heaped teaspoon of whole cane sugar and mix in
- Finally add the lentils, rice and the chopped vegetables to it with hot water and let it simmer on medium heat for about 35-40 minutes.
- Keep adding hot water until the Kichadi is soft as a porridge. In the end add rock salt. Remove it from heat and cover the pot for 5 minutes.

Serving:
Eat the Kichadi always warm with fresh Coriander on top.
