On top, copper products are sustainable and look noble and elegant, whether as jewelry on our body or in our homes.
Copper Products: The story
According to historical records, copper products were used thousands of years ago, starting in the Neolithic period. In many prehistoric cultures, vessels, tools, weapons, coins, jewelry and musical instruments were made from it. Even today, in many areas of India, people still drink from copper cups and store the water in copper pots, just as they did 5,000 years ago. Ancient cultures already knew about the healing and beneficial health effects of copper.
In traditional holistic medical systems such as Ayurveda or the ancient medical systems of China, Egypt, the Orient, Greece and the Roman Empire, remedies were made from copper ash, especially for the treatment of skin diseases, ulcers, lung diseases, eye diseases or varicose veins. Copper was also used as a medicine in the West, for example in the treatment of cholera in the 19th century, after French doctors discovered, that copper workers were immune to cholera, because copper strengthens the immune system.
Because of its exceptional electrical conductivity and thermal properties, copper needles are used in acupuncture in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Without this beautiful element there would be no modern technology and no modern life. We find copper wires in all electronic devices, computers and cell phones. Most buildings have copper pipes, for example for hot water supply.

Copper Products: The Copper Cup
Since ancient times, water was kept overnight in a copper cup and drunk immediately after getting up in the morning in most parts of India. It takes a few hours for the copper ions to find their way into the water. This improves the value of the water and allows it to develop its medicinal properties. You can enjoy hot, warm or cold drinks in the copper mug, but when it comes to hot water, keep in mind, that the copper cup stores heat. Be careful not to burn your tongue. There are very stylish products made of copper, either simple or decorated with beautiful ornaments, as they already existed in Oriental palaces.

Copper Products: The Copper Pan
In addition to the health benefits copper als possesses other precious qualities, which makes it perfect for kitchen items like a pan. Copper pans in particular are extremely efficient at heating food due to their high heat conduction. The even heat distribution gives best results regarding cooking and frying, which make the food also very tasty. A copper pan may be a little more expensive to purchase, but it is also more durable and can even be passed on to future generations. It can be used on gas, electric or induction stoves. For induction cookers the pan should be covered with a ferromagnetic layer.
Copper Products: The Tongue Scraper
How does your tongue look like? Look at yourself in the mirror with your mouth open. Is there perhaps a white coating? If so, there are many indications of a maldigestion. According to Ayurveda, our body detoxifies through the tongue. These toxins appear as a coating and are an ideal breeding ground for bacterias in the mouth. Therefore our daily oral hygiene should include the cleansing of the tongue every morning.
Using a tongue scraper from copper is very beneficial, because the copper itself has an antimicrobial effect and removes old sticky layers of parasites effectively. These sticky layers are considered to be the cause of periodontitis, tooth decay and bad breath. The variety of tongue scrapers is large. There are many materials like copper, silver, gold, stainless steel and plastic. We do not recommend plastic products – they are significantly cheaper, but unfortunately not sustainable. They are also more fragile and lack the health benefits of precious metals. Tongue cleaners made of pure copper or stainless steel are best. Alternatively, you can use a stainless steel teaspoon, at least until you have a proper tongue scraper.
For care and cleaning the scraper you need to rinse the tongue scraper under warm running water. Tip: For optimal oral hygiene, oil pulling is recommended with sesame oil and a little black cumin oil for a few minutes, which needs to be spit out in the end.
