Holistic Animal Rescue Projects: Great Places for Animals

Animals need our protection. Here we introduce you to international Holistic Animal Protection Projects, which are focussing on animal rescue and species protection.

Holistic Animal Rescue Projects worldwide

Since humans rule over the earth, we have the responsibility to watch over the wellbeing of animals. They have a right for free development and unlimited space for living. In any case, they have a right to live. As global awareness expands, more and more people and organizations worldwide save animals from premature killing and working to preserve them. Holistic Animal Protection Projects are part of the transformation to NEW EARTH into a planet of love.

Holistic Animal Rescue Projects: Gut Aiderbichl

GUT AIDERBICHL in Deggendorf, near the three-river city of Passau, is a meeting place between people and animals. It is a refuge for animals, which were about to be slaughtered. The estate exists since 2006. It is financed through entrance fees and donations and was founded by Michael Aufhauser. His vision is to give animals a better future. He developed Gut Aiderbichl into the largest sanctuary association in Europe and became known for his commitment to animal protection.

The main buildings and a dozen rescued horses that form the core of the estate are a legacy of Dr. Egerer, who gave shelter to twelve poor, rescued horses here. There are now over 300 animals living at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf (horses, donkeys, mules and ponies, cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens and dogs). A special feature is the cat villa, which was set up in 2008 and is attached to the estate.

Opposite the farm stable, home to many rescued animals, there is a beautiful courtyard with a fountain surrounded by the old main stable. In the house there is a restaurant with delicious dishes as well as rooms in which animal movies are shown, filmed on the estate.

There is also a large picnic meadow where visitors on warm days, can enjoy a delicious, regional picnic, surrounded by the rescued animals. There is also a circular path, which was newly built in 2020, to get the people even closer to the animals while walking, which is an unforgettable experience, especially for children.

Animal Farm – Animal Rescue

Unfortunately, not every animal can be saved. Michael Aufhauser, the founder, strongly believes in education and awareness, because people’s unconsciousness and callousness towards animals is the root cause for incorrect treatment of these beings.

For this reason, he developed a special concept for the estate, which is at the same time a sanctuary, animal park and educational facility.

There are guided tours almost every day, where visitors get to know each animal personally and its fate. Each animal has a name and brings its own, very personal story. In this way, awareness is created, that animals should not simply be disposed, because they are highly developed beings with complex feelings.

At Gut Aiderbichl there is also an academy, which conveys special knowledge about certain animal species for those who are interested. There is also a collaboration and joint research projects with the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna and Zurich as well as the Sandgrueb Foundation, with the aim, to improve the life quality of animals.

Gut Aiderbichl is exemplary, when it comes to Holistic Animal Protection Projects. There are further locations: Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf near Salzburg and in Iffeldorf near Munich. The Aiderbichl estate in Eslarn is specialized in pigeon rescue and the estate in Osnabrück rescues cats.

Holistic Animal Rescue Projects: Bellowing Acres

BELLOWING ACRES provides a forever home to rescued nuisance alligators, that were destined for euthanasia by the government. This alligator sanctuary is also home for other rescued, neglected and exotic animals. They can’t live on their own, because they were born in captivity or are wild animals, which have permanent injuries, that would not allow them to survive in wilderness.

Bellowing Acres was founded in 2021 by Chris Gillette and Gabby Scampone. They have been working with rescue animals for over 15 years in other parts of Florida. Finally in April 2023, the couple purchased their dream 40 acre property in North Florida and created a nonprofit rescue to take in sick reptiles, birds and small mammals, get them healthy and find them responsible homes.

Chris and Gaby are also offering education programs, where people are taught, how to co-exist with wildlife and why some wild animals are not good as pets. They also offer daily shows and swimming with alligators for individuals in their own pond in Bellowing Acres. Well protected a person can swim  in a cage, surrounded by a crocodile.

Chris Gilette is not only a very famous influencer, but also an experienced scientist and biologist, who did lots of research on wild animals, especially on alligators and crocodiles, sharks and snakes. He was brought up with them and developed amazing skills to handle these animals with ease. It’s breathtaking to watch Chris on YouTube or Instagram, rescuing and training these wild reptiles, who became a threat for humans.

You see him handling two or three alligators at a time, sometimes also more than 20, whom he calls by their names and feed them individually. He emphasizes not to imitate his training, because these reptiles are unpredictable in their behavior, even when they appear calm and sometimes even act like dogs. Certainly he is an outstanding wildlife trainer, together with his mate Gaby, who is very brave as well.

His concern is focused on the alligators, who were driven away from their natural habitat, because thousands of people are moving to Florida each year. This way the alligators end up in people’s pools, yards, or become too used to people after being illegally fed. Once that alligator is reported to the state, it is labeled as a nuisance alligator and a trapper is sent to remove the animal. Nuisance alligators in Florida must be either euthanized or kept in captivity for their whole life.

By law, alligators who are over 4 feet big, cannot be relocated or released back into the wild. With thousands of calls about nuisance alligators every year, there is a need for licensed and skilled facilities to be able to handle and house these animals. The Bellowing Acres works with a handful of trappers, who send the alligators to the sanctuary, instead of killing them.
