In recent years, more and more communities have been emerging all around the world, who are living in harmony with nature and with the laws of LOVE. Here in Happy New Earth Magazine we introduce you to different communities. Maybe you would like to become part of a holistic community.
More and more people want to get out of the system and live close to nature with like-minded people. Some are spiritual oriented, like the NuMundo Community in Sedona. Holistic Community: Auroville - The City of New Earth
In India, in Tamil Nadu, there is a place, which serves as a model for a Holistic Community and living. The enlightened master, Yogi, poet, philosopher and freedom fighter SRI AUROBINDO got the vision of an ideal community. He lived in India in the first half of the twentieth century. AUROVILLE was founded after his death, in 1968, by his closest friend, a french woman and also an enlightened master, Mira Alfassa.
Auroville is a Holistic Community and a symbol of unity and freedom, where people live together in a community regardless of their origin and religion. The concept envisions around 50,000 people, who will live there in a few years. The 8000 residents of today work together for the preservation of Auroville. There are different projects such as water extraction, reforestation, agriculture and farming as well as the production of daily products.
The Aurovillians, as they are called, receive pocket money, but can use community facilities for free, like schools, the holistic university, the outpatient clinic, the hospital or the swimming pool. There is also a solar-powered communal kitchen, where everyone can eat for little money.
The main sources of income are donations, selling of natural products and tourism. Through exhibitions and lectures, visitors learn what a peaceful coexistence in harmony with nature looks like. They can also visit classes of integral Yoga, Meditation or self-care. It is also possible work as a volunteer for a couple of weeks or months, for example in the kitchen or in the garden, and get to know community life better.
Holistic Community: Auroville - a City of high Energies
Auroville is architecturally designed to generate and distribute high energy. There is a central place of power, the Matrimandir, a huge golden dome. It is a place for individual concentration and Meditation, but without any religious rituals. The dome is designed in such a way, that the sunlight falls from above, gets bundled into a beam and then directed downwards to the Meditation room. The light symbolizes the divine power.
The dome is surrounded by a beautiful garden, also called the peace area, which is designed according to the principles of sacred geometry. The area is surrounded by a lake and water canals. The water has a cleansing effect on negative energies. The area is connected with four separate regions, which serve cultural, industrial, touristical and residential purposes, surrounded a green belt with forest and fields for farming.
The concept of Auroville is linked to Aurobindo’s Integral Yoga philosophy. He and Mira Alfassa created a holistic community, which follows the universal laws and the principles of unconditional love.
Holistic Community in Cinderland
CINDERLAND is a community of nature lovers. It is an ecovillage in a beautiful, jungle-like setting on the Big Island of Hawaii, just a mile from shore and surrounded with hot springs. This community relies on self-preservation, organic gardening and permaculture. The community has a close relationsship with their neighbors, like sharing food and play drums for sunset. They also sell their products in nearby farmer markets. By now, Cinderland has around 25 inhabitants and more are welcome. Holistic Communities are the first step to NEW EARTH.
