Holistic Lifestyle with A Daily Routine
HOLISTIC LIVING includes having a Daily Routine that is perfectly in harmony with your biorhythm. We focus on the needs of our body and its functions that take place at different times of the day. They are linked to the day-night rhythm and other cosmic influences, such as the lunar cycle and the position of the sun. In order to gain or stay energetically in balance, we should consider this in our daily activities. Everything has a right time.
In our HAPPY NEW EARTH MAGAZINE we introduce you to various activities for body and mind, which you can integrate in your daily routine, even in stressful times and while traveling. Here we introduce you to the Ayurvedic Daily Routine from Ayurveda, humanity’s oldest holistic health system, which is very effective.
In Ayurveda, not only the biorhythm is taken into account in the Daily Routine, but also the individual needs of a person, which arise from personal living conditions, constitution and current health situation. You can find out for yourself which routine is right for you or get advice from an experienced Ayurveda specialist.
The Ayurvedic Daily Routine: individual and dynamic
In Ayurveda, the routine not only takes the biorhythm into account, but also the individual needs of a person like the personal living conditions, nature and current health situation. You can find out for yourself, which routine is best for you or get professional advice from an experienced Ayurveda specialist. The Ayurvedic Daily Routine is primarily aimed at maintaining or restoring health as quickly as possible. It is dynamic and individual, like our life’s.
The Ideal Daily Routine: Align your day with your body functions
There are certain processes in the body that take place at fixed times, that we have to take into account by HEALTHY HABITS. The release of vital hormones takes place in the early morning between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Metabolism is strongest in the morning and midday and digestion is strongest between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The detoxification functions peak at midnight, while the liver is active in cleansing the blood between 10 p.m. – 3 a.m. ideally during deep sleep.
If we want to support digestion, metabolism, cleansing of the liver and kidneys and the release of enzymes and hormones, we should adjust our timings for sleeping, eating, learning or working to our body functions in the first place. This means for example to go to bed before midnight and eat our main meal around lunchtime.
The perfect daily routine: getting up at sunrise
The perfect day starts with getting up at sunrise or little earlier, especially to do Meditation and/or Yoga. It is the best time of the day, because the sunlight illuminates and energizes the earth after the dark night. The light activates our nerves, especially in the brain.
This stimulates our senses and the production of neurohormones and substances, that strengthen our immune system and regenerate and rejuvenate our cells and tissue. These processes are more effective with regular and deep Meditation, which is best before sunrise.
Ayurvedic Morning Ritual: Time for yourself
Celebrate the morning. Take 2-3 hours in the morning to start the day in a relaxed manner. Sort your thoughts and cleanse and care for your body. The morning ritual includes self-massage, tongue cleaning and oil pulling in the mouth as well as nasal rinsing. It is an aspect of Selflove to take time for yourself.
Yoga and Meditation can be practiced before or after your Morning Ritual, ideally around 5 a.m. when the air is still clear, the mind is calm and the pineal gland, our third eye, is open. In the mornings there are also fewer disruptive influences and energies, so we easily connect with higher dimensions in our MEDITATION.
Of course, not everyone has the time for an extensive Ayurvedic Morning Ritual, especially those, who start work early or have to look after their children. But there are always good solutions to integrate healthy activities into daily life, such as holding small children in your lap while meditating or doing a walking meditation on the way to your work.
Ayurvedic evening ritual to come down
Just like the morning ritual, also an evening ritual is recommended in Ayurveda. It’s about ending the day in peace and fall asleep relaxed. This includes taking time and space for thorough physical cleansing, calming breathing exercises and quiet Meditation like Yoga Nidra. It can also be a nice evening walk in the fresh air, ideally in the nature.
You should ideally have your last meal in the early evening hours before 7 p.m., so your body and mind can relax deeply and finds deep sleep. If it is not possible for you to have early dinner, Al least eat what is easy to digest for your body like soups.
Anything that excites and activates the mind, such as exciting or upsetting books, movies, games or news on cell phones, computers and television as well as working late, should be avoided after 7 p.m. The best time to go to sleep is between 9-10 p.m. Of course there may be exceptions, but in general you should do everything in the evening to come down from an exciting day.
The perfect daily routine - sleep before midnight
From a holistic perspective, sleep before midnight is holy. It is the time between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. where cleansing, detoxification, purification and regeneration of the body takes place. In particular the liver works most intensively during this time and cleanses our blood from toxins and metabolic waste products, especially when we are in deep sleep. The perfect Ayurvedic daily routine includes sleeping before midnight during liver time.
If you find it difficult to go to bed early and you can’t fall asleep that early, it is important that you develop, step-by-step, effective techniques in the evening hours to come down. This may take a while. In the beginning you can set an alarm at 5 a.m. for a week, then after a couple of days you get tired early in the evening for sure.
The perfect daily routine: Eat when your digestive power is strongest
Plan your daily routine so that you only eat your main meals when your digestive power is strong. This will be between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 4 – 7 p.m. Due to unnatural working conditions, most people are unable to cook fresh food for lunch. That’s why the main meal is often in evening, when the whole family gets together. But by 8 p.m. our digestive system is already asleep. The food will not be digested properly and stays in the stomach until the morning and may clog the intestines.
This is the root cause of a whole range of diseases, such as obesity, allergies or irritable bowel syndrome. But there are good solutions, for example by taking your lunch in a thermos container or warming it up at work and just eat only easy to digest food at dinner time like a warm soup, vegetables or porridge. Get creative and stay healthy. You can get more ideas and suggestions here in HAPPY NEW EARTH.
The Ideal Daily Routine: The best time for learning and working
The best time to study and work is early in the morning, right after your morning routine and in the afternoon between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. In fact, in mornings it’s usually quiet. We can concentrate better and are much more effective. Significantly we get more done in the mornings than late in the evening. Studying and working in the evening and at night is much more strenuous for your body and mind than in the morning.
Because of the late activities our mind cannot switch off properly and enter deep sleep. The early bird catches the worm, as a German saying goes. It’s worth getting up early and setting an alarm if necessary. In order to work and learn effectively, your stomach should also not be too full. Eat something that is easy to digest.
The perfect daily routine: The best time for sport and exercise
Human beings are designed for movement. We own a highly developed musculoskeletal system, which mainly consists of muscles and tendons. We can hunt like cheetahs and cross mountains like chamois, swim like fish and climb like monkeys, if necessary. Our body needs movements like oxygen. Our metabolism, circulation and digestion are linked to the muscle movements as they move the body fluids such as blood and lymph.
The best time for physical activities is in mornings and afternoons. Morning Yoga and other physical activities have an beneficial influence on our hormonal release. Same time our metabolism gets stimulated. Exercises with intensive, deep breathing have a particularly healing and energizing effect.
In the afternoon, sporting activities are recommended, to get you back to your the energy flow after many hours of sitting and one-sided postures, but are also very effective to relieve tension and stress. The best are calm holding exercises and swinging exercises from Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong and other Martial Arts.
Jogging, hiking, swimming and gardening are also great afternoon activities. Do what you like and feel good, but don’t exhaust yourself, especially with extreme activities in the gym such as spinning, weight lifting or Hot Yoga. You don’t have to prove anything to yourself or others. It’s better to listen to your body and take rest if necessary or take a walk in the park.
The Perfect Daily Routine with Children
Children in particular need a structured Daily Routine. It may be difficult at first to establish regular bedtimes and meal times for all family members. Make a priority list, which considers the health situation of every member and plan accordingly like fix sleeping and meal times for your child/ren and partner. Second priority are about work and school. Al last individual interests have to be integrated.
Just keep on for some days and observe, which impact the new structure has on your child/ children and partner. Fixed time for study and play times bring inner structure and clarity. Most important is to keep time to show and exchange love with your child/ children. How much time a child needs, depend on his/ her individual situation, for example to heal traumata from this or past life. Love heals it all.
