We can only achieve an ideal work-life-balance, if we pay more attention to our body and its needs. This also means having time and space for yourself and doing what your body and mind need in this moment.

The Ideal Work-Life-Balance: Do exactly the opposite in your free time

In Holistic Medical Systems like Ayurveda, counteracting to keep or get into balance, is an important principle for maintaining health. Cold is treated with heat. That is why we drink hot tea when we suffer from a colds. In terms of an Ideal Work-Life-Balance, counteracting means doing exactly the opposite activities to your job. 

If your work involves sitting indoors for many hours, it makes sense to spend the rest of the day in the fresh air and run or hike, do sports, Yoga or something similar. If you have to move a lot at work, you can rest and relax at the end of the day, for example, with MEDITATION or just relaxing in the garden or a park.

The Ideal Work-Life-Balance: Make the opposite physical movements to your work posture

It is even more effective, if you compensate one-sided posture at your work with physical exercises, which are the exact opposite. This means for example, to tense your left muscles in your body, when your job puts too much strain on your right muscles. So your muscles are strong on both sides. 

Do exercises, which are perfect for you. Swimming is the best choice for one-sided body positions, because your are moving with your whole body. Swim in warm water, when you feel cold and swim in cold water, when you feel hot throughout the day.

The Ideal Work-Life-Balance with meaningful activities

When it comes to activities for an ideal work-life-balance, anything what has to do with nature best, because you get energy. Choose also meaningful holistic activities, which bring you joy or help you achieve your goals, such as absolute health or more energy. Maybe you also want to change your profession. So spend every minute of your free time to make your life better life, energizes and fulfills you.

Ideal Work-Life-Balance: Work only according to your nature

It is a dream to determine your working hours and amount of work yourself. Unfortunately an employee is not free at all. More or less he or she has to follow the companies policy or other conditions. Also self-employees work much longer as they would like. To stay healthy it is very important to adapt the work to your nature regarding your constitution and your current state of health. 

In Ayurveda we recommend that if you are sensitive and tend to have sleeping disorders, frequent infections and inner restlessness, your Vata might be increased. If this is the case your nature does not allow you to work more than six hours without getting stressed. If your work is too stressful for you, it is better you reduce your working hours. There are many possibilities to work this out. Some people work on Saturdays, which gives them more easiness during the week. Others give responsibility away which safes them extra work.

If you are naturally vulnerable and prone to sleep disorders, infections and inner restlessness, then you should only work 6 hours a day and not overwhelm yourself with too much work. Otherwise it is only a matter of time before your body and mind get out of balance. This also applies to everyone who suffers from previous illnesses and is therefore not able to work much.

Better Work-Life-Balance: Work less or quit your job for a better one

If your work is too stressful for you, it is better you reduce your working hours. There are many possibilities to work this out. Some people work on Saturdays, which gives them more easiness during the week. Others give responsibility away which safes them extra work. Principally, it’s very simple: To achieve a better work-life-balance, simply work less or look for another job that suits you better to you and corresponds to your nature. 

Your health is more important than the money you earn with too may work time. You can also change your profession and work with more ease. Best is to make the right career choice right from the start and follow your destiny.
