In the USA there is an amazing and extraordinary school in Miami, Florida, which can be considered as a model for New School: The CENTNER ACADEMY. It was founded in 2018 by David and Leila Centner, who were dissatisfied with the schools in their area. Their mission is to inspire children for lifelong learning and prepare them for a successful academic and personal life.
Since 2019 there academy runs with 300 student per school year, along with 75 teachers and staff. It is a special kind of private school that focuses on the individual support of the children. The academy has a preschool, an elementary and a middle school, which ends with the 8th grade. The school has an international approach as well.
Since 2023, there is a new High School Program called Future High School, which offers students the opportunity, to travel worldwide to do community service and follow and realize their passions. This program is a truly exciting and innovative approach to secondary education.
In this New School, children are encouraged to follow their own interests and learn at their own pace. The families of the students form a community with the teachers and staff of the school. The school food is organic, with many food items coming from the school’s own farm, which is also sugar-, dairy- and gluten-free.
